More and more people are looking for ways to make money online.
Their dream is to make money online and have freedom by working from home.
While the idea and the dream of ‘making money online while you sleep’ and escaping the daily grind of working for a boss is extremely attractive, the reality of pursuing an online income can be a whole other story.
Is this just some pipe dream or can you really set up your own online business? Well of course you can! BUT… the problem is, that there are so many ‘shiny objects’ being offered and so many ways to potentially go, that if you are not careful, you can end up slipping into a downward spiral of spending and information overload.
The internet marketing world is a whole online community, and each year more and more are entering this community, marketing to others as they try to set up their own online empire’s. This is both good and bad. Problem is when you are just starting out, how do you know who you can trust. The ‘dreams’ they sell are pretty attractive, and of course they are designed that way to get you in.
As I said before, it is so important that you don’t let yourself slip into that ‘spending’ cycle… the new shiny object syndrome. It is imperative that you approach starting your make money online business, with a business mindset and a plan. You really need to work out what road you want to take before you start buying ‘business products’ and the good thing is you can do that for free.
It is a fact that, regardless of what type of online business you choose, the only way to make money online is to have a system, but then the choice comes down to what system will suit you. To give you some examples, you might choose an ebay system, an Amazon system, a service based business, a blogging system, a PLR (private label rights) or Public Domain System, a product vendor system or a general affiliate system to name a few. Seriously, it almost seems the options are limitless.
Some of these Make Money Online systems overlap… for example you might want to start using an affiliate system (selling other people’s products, and I highly recommend this), but you can combine being an affiliate with ebay or blogging. In come cases people will utilize several types of systems together. So you might begin to see how complicated it can become.
This is why it is important to find a system that is laid out, step by step, and once you commit to that system you need to make sure you really follow it through right to the end. That is one of the biggest mistakes a newbie will make.
They find a ‘shiny object’ (an online product promising you can make money online), get all enthusiastic, they start on there shiny Make Money Online system, then all too quickly their enthusiasm wanes another ‘shiny object’ comes along, they get all enthusiastic, they start on this system…. Are you starting to see a pattern here. Yes is really is a viscous cycle that goes on and on repeating these steps over and over. Ever spending, ever learning and never succeeding.
What often happens then…. assuming they don’t just give up all together, is they start to lose confidence in their ability to do anything. It can really affect their self esteem and for some this makes the cycle even more difficult to break out of.
But break out of it you must… or literally die trying!
So… you need a system. A make money online system that suits you from someone you can trust and that you are prepared to commit to and put in the hard yards to actually implement through till you see results.
There are some systems where you can start to make money online without even owning your own site, but be warned, this is not really building a business, and at some point you are going to need to ‘own’ your own sites and it is up to you to decide how you want to make a start. Don’t be scared off by having your own sites; if you find the right system, it is not really all that difficult, and it needn’t be expensive either.
Well worth some serious consideration.
If you decide to start off your make money online by owning your own site, it is important to work out what some of the services you will need, and you will need these regardless of which system you choose to run with. these include some basics:
- A Domain Registrar - this is a company where you can purchase your own domain name. There are literally loads of these available, and they are not all the same. You want to make sure the company you decide upon, is reliable, is well priced, and comes recommended (there’s where that person you trust comes in and can be more than one person you find offers good value with their advice).
- A Hosting Company – This is a company that owns servers, which is another word for big computers that store your website files online. This is where you build your site and set it up so people can find it. Often you can do this with the same company that you purchase your domain name through, however, personally I don’t like to do that. I much prefer to keep them separate. The reason I keep them separate is this; if there happens to be some big problem with your hosting company and your site goes down for some reason, or they go out of business (has happened where the owner of the business passed away unexpectedly and all the sites that he hosted disappeared), then you can simply get a new hosting account and reload up your site from your back up copies. Obviously backing up your site is essential.
Now this probably sounds a little intimidating if you are completely new at this, but really it is not as bad as it sounds. You will, however, benefit greatly from having that person or persons online you can trust for recommendations and advice.
